One of the anchors of Harlem’s revitalized restaurant row is bringing its successful formula of beer, food and sports to Washington Heights.
The owners of neighborhood restaurant and bar Harlem Tavern are planning to open Heights Tavern right in the heart of Washington Heights.
“We’re expanding,” said co-owner Gareth Fagan, adding that the new Washington Heights location, at 3910 Broadway near W. 164th St., will be similar to the Harlem hotspot.
“We’re doing the same concept,” Fagan told the Daily News. “We’re excited about it.”
Harlem Tavern — which opened in July 2011 — became a go-to destination for its sports bar feel and spacious outdoor patio seating. The Heights location will not have the beer garden that Harlem Tavern boasts, but Fagan said he hopes to offer sidewalk seating down the road.
Fagan — a Dublin, Ireland, product who also owns Blind Pig on E. 14th St. — said Washington Heights has long been on his radar.
